The 2024 total solar eclipse is almost here! To celebrate, the Wead Library has organized a ton of programs and activities for patrons of all ages. Almost all of these programs are FREE to attend!
To launch our solar eclipse series on Tuesday, March 5, master storyteller Perry Ground is back again with his presentation Raven Steals the Sun: Native American Eclipse Stories. Our March and April schedules are packed with space-themed story hours, informational solar eclipse safe viewing presentations, a Saturday film afternoon, a Solar Eclipse Acrylic Painting class with local artist Cindy Gadway, and more—there is something for everyone at the Wead Library! Our solar eclipse series will conclude with our Solar Eclipse Viewing Party on April 8.
Click here for more information about eclipse glasses, safety, and description for all of our solar eclipse programs. Registration is required for some events.
You can also participate by joining the Discover the Solar Eclipse Beanstack Challenge. Log your reading and complete activities for the opportunity to win a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses. Don’t have a Beanstack account yet? Click here to get started!
A limited number of American Astronomical Society approved solar eclipse viewing glasses will be available to Wead Library solar eclipse event attendees beginning March 5. To receive solar eclipse viewing glasses, attend an event from the Library's solar eclipse schedule or complete the Discover the Solar Eclipse Beanstack Challenge. Solar eclipse viewing glasses will be available while supplies last.
We hope you can join us in celebrating this spectacular solar event!
